  • Tomato ketchup: 3 tbsp
  • Vinegar: 2 tsp
  • Water: ½ cup
  • Chili flakes: ½ tsp
  • Pepper: to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage Balls:
    • Grate the cabbage and place it in a large mixing bowl.
    • Add salt, red chili powder, ginger, garlic, corn flour, and all-purpose flour to the grated cabbage.
    • Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
    • Form small balls from the mixture and set them aside.
  2. Deep Fry the Balls:
    • Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
    • Carefully add the cabbage balls into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove the fried balls and drain them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In another pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat.
    • Add finely chopped garlic, onion, and capsicum. Sauté for a minute until they are slightly soft.
    • Stir in soy sauce, red chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, and water. Mix well.
    • Add chili flakes and pepper to taste.
  4. Combine and Serve:
    • Gently add the fried cabbage balls into the sauce and toss them lightly to coat.
    • Cook for about 5 minutes on low heat to allow the flavors to meld together.
    • Finally, garnish with spring onion greens before serving.

Pro Tips

  • For an extra crunch, ensure that your oil is sufficiently hot before adding the cabbage balls; this helps them fry evenly without absorbing too much oil.
  • You can adjust the spice levels by modifying the amount of red chili powder and chili sauce according to your preference.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, mix a little cornstarch with water and add it to the sauce while cooking.

Serve your Cabbage Manchurian hot for the best taste! Enjoy this crispy and flavorful dish that brings a fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors right to your table.
